Conservation Commission Vacancy

The West Newbury Conservation Commission is a 5 person volunteer commission appointed by the Select Board and is responsible for overseeing and implementing the state's Wetlands Protection Act and Regulations. There is currently one vacancy on the commission for which applicants are sought.

The Commission meets the first and third Monday of each month (with the exception of holidays) and occaisionally conducts site reviews on evenings and weekends. Experience in civil engineering, hydrology, environmental law, environmental science, plant identification, and/or soil evaluation is preferred but not required. Applicants are required to be residents of West Newbury and should be willing to learn, participate in project and site reviews, and remain unbiased in their implementation of the Wetlands Protection Act and Regulations. Training and professional development through the Massachusetts Association of Conservation Commissions (MACC) is available and paid for by the Commission.

If you are interested in applying or have additional questions please contact Michelle Greene, Conservation Agent, at 978-363-1100 ext. 126 or by email at conservation@wnewbury.org
