West Newbury Board of Health – COVID-19 Update #8

May 13, 2020

Since the Board of Health’s last update on May 6th, one additional resident has tested positive for COVID-19. This individual is in isolation and is recovering from their illness.  They are being supported and monitored by West Newbury’s Public Health Nurse according to MDPH guidelines.

Over the last week or so, there has been a steady decline in daily positive cases of COVID-19 as well as a decrease in ICU patients.  Due to the diligence of the West Newbury residents in adherence to social distancing measures, public area closures, and facial covering mandates, our number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has been minimal. It is the community tracing, isolation, follow up, and education being provided by our Public Health Nurse that has resulted in zero community spread within West Newbury.

The BOH has recommended that Mill Pond / Pipestave Hill Parking Lots be opened for residents ONLY (with permit).  The Board of Selectmen have approved this idea at their last meeting, which was held on May 11th.  Parking permits for Mill Pond / Pipestave Hill parking lots can be obtained by emailing parkingpermitwn@wnewbury.org or by phone 978-363-1100, x134.  Email requests are preferred.  Please include a copy of your vehicle registration.  The residents-ONLY parking restriction will begin on Saturday May 23rd and will run until further notice.

We can all be carriers at some point without even knowing it.  Social distancing still remains VERY IMPORTANT.  If you’re sick, STAY HOME.

If you think you have been exposed to COVID-19, or if you develop a fever and respiratory symptoms such as a cough or difficulty breathing, call your healthcare provider immediately.

IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY
