Roof fire at Middle/High School construction site

No injuries, all is under control!

A short time ago there was a fire on the roof of the Middle/High School construction site.

The situation is under control.

The construction team is working with the Fire Dept to investigate the cause but it appears there was a spark from welding that landed on the membrane of the roofing system, igniting the glue that was applied to the membrane. The area of roof impacted by fire is upwards of 400SF. The fire has been put out and there are no injuries to report. The Fire Dept and Police Dept are actively onsite right now managing the situation with the School, and West Newbury's Building Inspector is also involved. Insurance has been notified of the incident.

This announcement is sent in the event that people may have seen smoke (or the fire itself), and may be wondering what had happened.
