Riverbend Trail Work Completed

Big thanks to Eagle Scout Jack Rau and Volunteers!

Riverbend green and yellow trail work completed by Eagle Scout Candidate

If you’ve hiked the green or yellow trails at Riverbend behind Page School recently, you may have noticed the trails are a bit easier to navigate. On Saturday July 15, 2023 Eagle Scout candidate Jack Rau led volunteers – Mrs. Marilyn and Cliffe Judson; The Snow Family - Jason, Marianne, and Jeff; and The Rau Family – Christopher and Suzanne, under the supervision of Conservation Agent, Michelle Greene, on his Eagle Scout Service Project to complete much needed trail maintenance on these trails. Jack’s project included installing 15 total new blazes (9 green, 6 yellow), re-painting 12 of the older blazes (6 green, 6 yellow), repairing the sign for the mill & dam ruins, straightening two posts holding blazes, and clearing vegetation that was obscuring blazes and impeding the trail. The work day was the culmination of Jack’s efforts throughout the spring which included obtaining approval for the project from the Selectboard, Conservation Commission, and Open Space Committee; receiving approval from the Boy Scouts for the proposed project; and scheduling & coordinating volunteers for the work day. The Town would like to thank Jack and the volunteers for their hard work and wish Jack the best of luck on his advancement from Boy Scout to Eagle Scout.
