On Monday, the annual Memorial Day Parade will step off from Elwell Square (intersection of Main/Maple Streets) at 10:30 am, proceeding east on Main Street to the Training Field and Town Hall. This will be a very special event, and a wonderful opportunity to gather together to honor the men and women who gave their lives while serving in the U.S. military.

This bicentennial year parade is shaping up to be perhaps the largest ever, with confirmed participation of the 215th Army Band, 182nd Engineer Company, Aleppo Shriners Minutemen, Glovers Marblehead Regiment, Police, Fire, State Police, Sheriff, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, the Pentucket High School band, a Fife & Drum Band, Riding & Driving Club, the Sunrise Dairy Milk Wagon, classic cars, Pentucket athletics, West Newbury Youth League, local and state elected officials, and town Boards and Committees. The Bicentennial Committee, the Garden Club and the Pentucket Arts Foundation will all have floats in the parade.

We are honored that Rick and John Thurlow, whose family has been in West Newbury since the 1700s, and who both have served our Country and our Town in many capacities over many years, will serve as the Parade Grand Marshals.

A ceremony will take place on the Training Field in front of the G.A.R. Library and Town Hall immediately following the parade. Afterward, West Newbury's public safety crew and volunteers will host an open house and cookout at the public safety building.

We hope you join us!
