Fall Special Town Meeting this Saturday at 2 PM!

October 23, 2021
Outdoor Town Meeting

Please plan to attend THIS SATURDAY at 2 PM in order to make your voice heard!  The Town has held a number of successful outdoor Town Meetings, and we expect the same this weekend.  Chairs will be set up on the parking area next to the Bandstand to allow attendees to sit without need to bring your own chairs.

The Special Town Meeting Warrant is fairly short – just 14 articles – and the meeting itself may not take long... but it is important.  Among other time-sensitive issues, the proposed budget amendments, if approved, would reduce the current year operating budget by about $114,000, and a proposed Free Cash transfer of $200,000 would further reduce this year’s tax rate.  Town Meeting approval will be needed in order for this reduction to show up on the current year property tax bills.

Other initiatives on this fall’s Warrant include action related to invasive species, public works and water infrastructure, stormwater management, and proposed creation of a Housing Trust.

Complete information regarding the Special Town Meeting can be found on the Town’s website here; and, there are hard copies of the Finance Committee Booklet at the Post Office, Library, Town Offices foyer, the Food Mart, and at the two local restaurants.

If you have any questions regarding the Special Town Meeting or any of the proposed Articles, please contact the Town Manager Angus Jennings, or any member of the Select Board or Finance Committee.  We hope to see a lot of people at Town Meeting, the Town's legislative body.  Thank you!
