EASTERN ESSEX VETERAN SERVICES TO HOST MEAL DELIVERY FOR THOSE WITH A HISTORY OF MILITARY SERVICE

Saturday, July 3rd, 2021
Those who have served in the military are being treated to a free meal, for themselves and their families, in observance of Independence Day courtesy of Eastern Essex Veterans Services. On Saturday, July 3rd, 2021, the Eastern Essex Veterans Services will be serving vegetable primavera with chicken, plus a side salad and dessert. "On Independence Day, we as a community show our gratitude for all our men and women who took an oath to defend our freedom," says Karen Tyler, Director of Veterans Services for the Eastern Essex District. Tyler, who served in the United States Army, feels this meal appreciation event is an excellent way for the community to come together and show their gratitude while also serving a delicious meal.

Registration in advance is required, and meal requests are exclusive to Georgetown, Newbury, and West Newbury.  To sign up for a pick-up or delivery, you can call the Eastern Essex Veterans Services office at 978-356-6699.  All the meals will be prepared at Pita Hall, 8 Plum Island Boulevard, Newbury, MA 01951on Plum Island. Meals will be delivered and available for pick up between 2 pm - 4 pm. To register for delivery, you will need to provide your name, address, number of meals being requested, and best contact number. Meals that are delivered will be delivered using contactless delivery. A notification will be made by text or phone call only after the meal is delivered. Sign-ups must be in by Thursday, 24 June 2021, before 4 pm.

The Newburyport Bank is proudly sponsoring this event. To help carry out this event, volunteers will be needed to help with deliveries. Those who are interested in volunteering, please send an email to ktyler@eesssexvets.com for details.  "Events and tributes like this are never possible without the support from the community and local businesses. Our office is always extremely grateful for all of those who support our men and women who have worn the cloth of our Nation," adds Karen Tyler.
