Announcement: West Newbury Garden Club

The West Newbury Garden Club is pleased to announce its 2020 scholarship opportunity to students who reside in West Newbury, Merrimack, or Groveland.  Any residents attending Pentucket Regional, technical schools, private schools or colleges are eligible to apply.

This year the club will be offering two $2,000 scholarships to students who are majoring in or plan to major in Environmental Studies, Biology, Earth Sciences, Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Design, Botany Horticulture, Marine Biology or any other major pertaining to the environment.

Applications can be found on-line at wngc.org and must be e-mailed or post marked by April 6, 2020.  E-mail applications to Karen Clagett at karen.clagett@gmail.com.  Hardcopy applications should be mailed to West Newbury Garden Scholarship Committee, PO Box 11, West Newbury, MA 01835.

Students must demonstrate good academic standing and an interest in the environment or the community through extracurricular activities or work. Accompanying the application, students must submit an essay describing why you are interested in a career relating to the environment and how that interest developed, provide a high school transcript, and two letters of recommendation from teachers, with one being a science teacher.
